ARNA ONLINE - Article by Arianne Ritz
Kelly Van Nelson - Managing Director of Adecco Australia What's one thing you'd tell your younger self about your getting ahead in your career?Don’t succumb to ‘Imposter Syndrome’. My constant mantra is, ‘Only you can spread your wings and fly’. I developed a steely inner strength from the knowledge that my destiny is in my own hands. I try not to let anyone clip my wings, including myself, so I face my fears head on and try to help others do the same. Willpower is the super power most needed in your kit bag to get ahead in your career and if you dig deep enough, it’s right there in abundance. What's something you're most proud of in your career as a woman?Merging my worlds as a writer, businesswoman, and author to become one whole, authentic person. This sounds easy and somewhat ‘blue sky’ but it has taken me a lot of soul searching, coaching, and breaking down of compartmentalising walls I had built myself to accept that I’m good enough as I am and don’t have to be superwoman all the time. What is one thing you will ask women to do this International Women's Day.There is no box to think outside of and no ceiling, the only restrictions holding you back are the ones you’ve put there. Break yourself out of your comfort zone just once this week. Do something that stretches or scares you and see what happens. It’s the only way to learn, grow, and experience new dimensions in life. And support another woman you know who is out there pushing boundaries, doing the same. There is easily enough room for more female trailblazers in the world. https://www.arnaonline.com.au/blogs/news/international-womens-day-interview-with-exceptional-women-leaders-2020 Delighted to be a NSW State finalist in the 2020 Telstra Business Women's Awards. Thank you to everyone who nominated me or supported my application. Wonderfully thorough judging process which really made me step back and assess the career journey to date. Fantastic to be in the finals with several trailblazing women in Australia, each making a difference in the business community. Looking forward to the awards night in April.
Just when you think the Oscars hype is settling down you get an unexpected message from the founder of Hollywood Swag Bags saying, "Just to let you know a copy of your Graffiti Lane book is being left in Mr Robert De Niro's hotel suite this weekend." 🤩
Graffiti Lane is making it's way to 2020 Academy Award Nominees courtesy of Hollywood Swag Bag honoring Oscars weekend.
When you find out Graffiti Lane has been delivered to WB Studios in Hollywood to Ellen DeGeneres in her January 26th birthday basket, life feels a little crazy!
Cannot believe it. Double whammy this month picking up two gold gongs for the Roar Success awards in the categories of :
* Best Book- Graffiti Lane * Most Powerful Influencer Using poetry as a vehicle to drive change, I've been leveraging the written, spoken, and visual word to raise awareness on the topics I care about. Anti-bullying, Domestic Violence Prevention, and Mental Health Awareness, especially in youths. One voice can make a difference. Surreal night meeting John Travolta backstage. I am just a tad excited he now has a copy of my book, Graffiti Lane, to read on his flight home from Australia to the US, unless he’s the pilot of course. Thanks Anthology International for putting on An Evening with John Travolta. Fantastic seats right up front and centre for me and my son. John was totally amazing, funny, and engaging. Great hosting by Melissa Doyle too and added bonus of meeting actor and mega speaker Kurek Ashley in the audience #starstruck. |
